The Biggest Toys For This Festive Season

Christmas can often be a tough time of year, particularly for parents attempting to finance the holiday season. So to attempt to help out parents a little, here’s a head start on what looks like being the top trends in toys for 2010.

With the whole nation trying to move out of a recession, spending levels have dropped considerably and the top toys are likely to reflect this, with the majority of them retailing under the £50 mark. This will hopefully make life a little easier for parents, as it’s more likely they’ll be able to afford the hottest Christmas gifts of the year.

2010′s hottest toys, in a similar way to previous years, are extremely likely to feature characters from the most watched films and television shows around the country.

Starting with gifts for young boys, you’ll want to look at what will be the most popular films and characters this year. Toy Story, Shrek and Transformers will all be good bets for boys, with Toy Story 3′s Buzz Lightyear almost certain to be extremely popular. You can expect Transformers toys to be very popular this year, given the huge buzz surrounding both the films and the games. Characters from the Shrek films are extremely likely to be popular this year, with the film set to be released in 2010 and toys from the franchise likely to make great Christmas gifts for him or her.

RC Helicopters and cars are also likely to be a good choice for any young guy this Christmas.

As for young girls, I would look at popular children’s shows such as Peppa Pig, who do a good job making toys that fit the popular show. Likely to be similarly popular is Dora the Explorer, Hanna Montana and Bratz, the latter appearing as a popular brand last year as well.

One example of toys that seem to keep their level of popularity around the Christmas period would be Sylvanian Families, which will probably continue to be popular this year. If your daughter is a little bit older, you could opt for the Kidizoom Camera or a GOGO hamster, either of which would make a perfect Christmas gift for her.
