Scented Candles And Reed Diffusers – Home Fragrance Solutions

Scented candles have always been popular as a gift. In the past when thoughts turned to home fragrances scented candles were really the only viable option, unless you decided to plump for something like an oil burner or incense sticks. However, trends in interior design are constantly changing with the introductions of new products, new designs and new styles.  One such example of this has been the increase in popularity recently of reed diffusers, also known as fragrance diffusers.

Reed diffusers are very straightforward to operate. They are made up of fragrant oil, a jar or other container to hold the oil and rattan reeds which are placed into the oil to start the process of diffusion. These reeds are very important – wooden sticks or bamboo will not suffice. Rattan reeds have an internal honeycomb-like structure which draws up the scented oil before dispersing it into the air.

Reed diffusers offer a number of distinct advantages over scented candles – they do not require a flame to operate so they can be safely used even if there are young children or pets in the home; they can be left to work when you are out, where it would not be reasonable or safe to leave a lit candle unattended;  and they offer the ability to vary the intensity of the fragrance they emit. When you light a scented candle, it will start to emit its fragrance as the wax melts, but there is nothing you can do to vary the scent. If you would prefer a stronger fragrance, all you need to do with your reed diffuser is turn the reeds over more regularly. Similarly if you prefer a more subtle aroma, just flip the reeds less often, perhaps once a fortnight instead of weekly, or else place fewer reeds in the jar of scented oil in the first place.

But this does not mean that  luxury scented candles have had their day. Reed diffusers undoubtedly have certain advantages over scented candles, offering an appealing modern look which some people find preferable. But there seems to be something deep within us which is attracted to the flickering flame of the candle, which cannot be replicated by any type of diffuser. Perhaps it dates back to ancient times, when crude candles and tapers were the only meagre source of light throughout long dark winter months. In terms of practicality, many candles are now found in jars or tins which provide a stable base and are not easily knocked over, reducing considerably the risk of accidents. You can ensure you get the best from your scented candles by observing a number of everyday commonsense precautions. On no account place a lit candle near something flammable because of the risk of sparks.  Always make sure you place a lit candle on a level surface, well out of the way of little prying fingers.  Never leave a lit candle unattended or leave a candle alight while you sleep. By observing these simple tips you can still enjoy the beautiful fragrance and romantic glow which only scented candles have to offer.

Scented Jar Candles – Perfect For Gifts

Whether you are looking to find a special gift for a good friend or simply wish to create a stylish mood for your home or perhaps for an event which you are hosting, scented candles make a terrific choice. Scented candles come in many shapes and sizes as well as, of course, in a variety of designs and fragrances. Pillar candles or candles in tins or in jars are just some of the choices available. Of these options scented candles in jars have become increasingly popular, no doubt owing to their being a stylish, portable alternative to traditional candle styles.

Jar candles range hugely in size from a basic votive candle to much larger jar candles which can often last for up to two hundred hours and moreOne of the most significant advantages of jar candles is the fact that, by their very nature, they are entirely portable and can be placed anywhere where there is a flat surface, without the need for a candle holder, coaster or other container. The jars containing the candles vary in design from simple glass containers to much more ornately decorated glassware, including some in etched glass or crystal.

When it comes to choosing scented candles as gifts – or indeed as a self-indulgent treat –  why not consider choosing a number of smaller candles such as votives in a variety of different fragrances to make up a gift set which any recipient is sure to love. Your selection could be made up of a choice of fragrances which you know your friend or loved one appreciates, or else you could make your selection based on a theme – perhaps a number of candles in floral scents such as rose, jasmine and orange blossom, or else a variety of invigorating aromas such as ginger, clove and sandalwood. Alternatively, if you decide to go for a larger scented jar candle you can choose one that would be suitable for use as a decorative focal point in your loved one’s home – perhaps perched high above a fireplace or as a centrepiece for a dining table or console.

No matter the reason or the occasion, scented candles in jars allow you the opportunity to give your friends or loved ones a truly thoughtful gift, one which with a little care and thought you can ensure fits in perfectly with your recipient’s own sense of style and personal preferences. And the good news is that they needn’t cost the earth. Scented candles are still a modestly priced treat which means that even when you are out looking for gifts, you can afford to indulge your passion for scented candles by picking up one or two for yourself

Scented Candles – The Finishing Touch

Scented candles can add the final touch to any room.  Imagine you have updated your living space with new sofas or new curtains and a new carpet and you have added attractive paintings, prints and vases to give the room more character and more comfort.  You look around and realise that something is missing from the space. What could it be?

You have added items which enhance the senses with the use of colour and space in the room, the eyes are pleased by what they see, the textures used provide a good mixture and are lovely to touch, but something seems missing.  That little extra touch that really makes the room as you want it – something to enhance the look and feel of the room. That little extra is the way the room smells:  its scent.

A scented candle stimulates the senses, and completes the decor and feel of a room. We are spoilt for choice when it comes to the choice of candles available nowadays, from a simple tealight or votive, to an ornate glass jar candle or candle tin, suitable as a centrepiece to any room.

They come in different sizes and a range of attractive colours to blend with your room decor, or artistically clash with your colour scheme. Without a doubt, however, the most attractive feature of a scented candle is the delightful fragrance it imparts when lit. Not only is the dancing flame of the candle an added attraction to any living space, but the delightful fragrance it emits also contributes to the final design feature for  your home.

There are many different fragrances that you can have in a candle, ranging from fruit aromas such as orange, clove or grapefruit, to the smell of English roses, lavender or vanilla. You could even use a candle of formed pure essential oil in wax which will affect your mood while relaxing in the evening. The choice of fragrance is purely personal, but with so many scents to choose from you can happily ring the changes whenever the mood takes you.

Scented candles can be very long-lasting, some burning for up to 50 hours, and you have a choice of either paraffin wax or the more eco friendly soy wax which is better for you and for the environment. However, it is important for you to balance the various scents available from such candles since there are a very large number of possibilities, and just like perfumes, not all go well together.

Not only do these candles add to the look and feel of your own living space, be it the living room or the bedroom or even scented tea lights floating in the bath,  but you can also improve someone else’s living space by offering them a scented candle as a gift. They are available in strickingly stylish packaging, with the added bonus, unlike, for example, reed diffusers, that the aroma of the candle may “leak” through, permeating the atmosphere with a promise of beautiful fragrance once the candle has been lit.

If you have your own birthday coming up why not drop a few hints that you would like a scented candle and see what lovely gift you receive. You could hint on the scent that you would prefer, or leave it up to others and find out what they think would suit you and your living space. It is also worth bearing in mind that in addition to their beautiful fragrances, scented candles also offer a decorative element to any room. Both the candles themselves and their holders or containers can be very attractive.

You don’t place a beautifully fashioned scented candle in a pot more appropriate to a house plant or in a pint tumbler. There is a great variety of candles and accessories available nowadays, ranging from glass candleholders to ornate wrought-iron candlebras.

Once you have your scented candle there will be no need to put on the lamps in the room: the glow of the candle will give you a lovely low lighting, and that, coupled with the beautiful scent filling your space, will make you feel relaxed and happy that you chose scented candles as your final design feature.

For those who love light, candles are sheer pleasure. Even the most classy electrical lights cannot match up to the attractiveness of light shed by a candle. In quintessence, a candle is nothing more than a mixture of wax and wick. However, still there are various styles of candles to choose between. From the shape to the style to the fragrance used, the list of alternatives in candles is endless. Permit us take a look at a few of the most popular candle types.

Pillar candle is the most common as well as the hottest array. These traditional candles have been in use for a particularly extended time indeed and are as much in demand now as they ever were. They’re molded and do not require any extra support to stand. Pillar candles additionally come in extensive varieties- from the more simple ones to those with more ornate designs. You can even opt for designer pillar candles which come embellished with semi precious motifs and stones to add a touch of decadence. However, these specific candles are just meant to be used as showpieces rather than a source of brightness.

Another preferred kind of candles is container candles. This candle range is simply a candle placed in a container. Unlike other candle kinds, this 1 doesn’t use the regular candle wax. It in fact uses gel wax. Container candles too are obtainable in variety of forms. A few of the commonly accessible forms of this candle type are marbled container candles, layered container candles and normal container candles. You could choose your pick according to your liking and wants.

These candles are just some gel wax poured into containers. On the other hand layered candles are one step ahead of the basic ones in the style department. As the name suggests, these candles make use of various colors of gel wax placed in layers. These candles are greatest suited for parties due to their gorgeous looks. The ideal of all the container candles is marble candle. In this sort of candle, gel wax of different colors are blended collectively in a manner that it gives a marbled look.

Votive candles is yet another popular category of candles. They fall somewhere between the normal pillar candles and container candles. Though they are essentially pillar candles, they are put in a container for additional effect. So, before you actually burn them, they’re free standing. It is when they begin to melt that they take the shape of the container. These candles look absolutely quite and are obtainable in a wide variety of possibilities.

Irrespective of which of these candles you choose from, the light shed by them is sure to bring a smile on your face.
