Some participants just remain independent members at the online “Hatquarters,” where they can write to other members in forums, play online games, gain discounts and meet occasionally at local chapter events. “Red Hatters” and “Pink Hatters” are the designations for women who meet regularly (at least once or twice a month) at their local chapter or two. As a member of the chapter, women don party hats and go out in droves to share meals, play games, attend theater performances, travel, attend conventions and engage in many more fun activities. Some members may even go on to become “Queens,” which are the organizers for a local chapter.
