I personally hate to shop for birthday presents. I am one of the worst at gift giving. I am never able to buy a gift that someone enjoys. For many years I have tried to find a better way to buy gifts. I have given some really awful gifts over the years. One year I gave a ski helmet to a person that does not even ski. I bought the helmet for someone that loves motorcycles.

I thought I was buying the black helmet that I had overheard him say he wanted for his birthday. I did not know at the time that he was referring to a motorcycle helmet. After many failed attempts at buying the perfect birthday gift I decided to go online and look for suggestions on gift giving.

After doing some research online I finally have gotten much better at giving gifts. First I take the time to think about who I will be shopping for. You definitely have to think of the things that person likes. I was headed in the right direction with the helmet but I did not consider what type I should buy. If I had of been paying attention to what he liked I would have known that my gift was not the right gift.

You will want to consider your budget as well. Until you have decided on a budget there is no reason to go shopping. You will likely spend most of the day looking around in stores. When shopping for a woman’s birthday gift it can be a little harder. However most women do love oils, lotions, and candles. You could try to find out what scent she likes best before buying this.

A personalized gift is a great idea because there are many different things you can choose from. You can have just about anything personalized from a purse to a leather watch. When you personalize a gift it tells the recipient that you put a lot of thought into that gift.

The most important thing to consider when shopping for someone is their personality. You will want to consider whether they are girlie, quirky, loud, shy, or elegant. Knowing this about a person can mean the difference in a gift they will never use and a gift they will cherish for years.

Just take a little time to figure out what the person’s interest are and you will come up with a great idea for a gift. You should not simply go shopping hoping to find a gift because you will probably just buy something that you like. Remember that even though you like it does not necessarily mean that they will like it too.
