How Many Hair Disasters Have You Had Over The Years?

My daughter has recently had a birthday and she received a fantastic hair styling kit.

It is a brilliant product as it seamlessly manages to transform her usually lifeless straight hair to a mass of curly hair. It is absolutely brilliant and such an easy product to use that I wish it had been around when I was younger.   The instructions are so easy to follow and they guide you effortlessly through the simple process of how to curl hair.

It got me thinking about the numerous hair styles I had gone through when I was younger.

When I was in my teens I will say that I did dye my hair. I liked to be a bit different and didn’t use normal hair dye products.   No I coloured my hair using green food colouring stolen from my mum’s food cupboard.

I can remember going to school with these beautiful green streaks in my hair and I thought I looked really cool and pretty amazing. It was a real horror story though on the walk home from high school. Why it was that the heavens decided to open up just as the school gates opened is beyond me, but they did and I soon turned into a green monster due to the hair dye running all down my face!

Even now 30 years later I can still vividly rememeber the humiliation of my hair colouring attempts. My family didn’t let me forget my mistake and for many years my hair wasn’t coloured but stayed it’s natural mousy brown colour.

Next on the hair hit list was the shaggy perm. Well it was meant to be shaggy, but I clearly remember that I looked like a poodle for at least 2 weeks.   Why is it that you never seem to have the hair you actually want?   All I wanted was wavy hair, not poodle hair.

Numerous hair disasters followed, but as soon as I hit my 40′s I plumped for a sensible hair cut and nowadays it’s a quick wash and dry in the morning and straight out the door to work – simple.
